Fatal Fury Special is an improved version of SNK's 2D one-on-one fighter Fatal Fury 2. It's a conversion of the 1993 arcade game of the same name.

The objective is still to win the tournament by defeating all other fighters including end boss Wolfgang Krauser. Fatal Fury Special features a fairly large selection of fighters that includes: The eight regular fighters from Fatal Fury 2: Terry Bogard, Andy Bogard, Joe Higashi, Kim Kaphwan, Jubei Yamada, Cheng Sinzan, Mai Shiranui and Big Bear. The four bosses from Fatal Fury 2: Billy Kane, Axel Hawk, Lawrence Blood and Wolfgang Krauser (this time they're all immediately playable). Three characters returning from the first Fatal Fury: Duck King, Tung Fu Rue and Geese Howard (the end boss from Fatal Fury). Other improvements include: A new Count Down mode (defeat as many opponents as possible in 3 minutes). Extra color schemes for every character. New & improved background graphics.

Dolby Surround Sound support. Fatal Fury Special still features the series' trademark pseudo-3D movement along two planes.

I wanted to share this greatness with you all as I believe this system is not known well enough as some of the other systems out there. I also found that quality TG16/PCE CD images were severely lacking and VERY difficult to obtain.

If I may, I would like to discourage others from distributing formats like ISO/MP3/OGG/APE/WAV for CD game images. I've spent quite some time collecting, verifying and re-packaging these games using a naming convention I created for indentification and archival purposes. Many of the images are ripped from well-known pupils/groups of the NEC scene to guarantee quality (ripper and release infos are noted in each game).

All images have been scanned with TAU Analyzer to verify they are authentic CD copies and not degraded ISO/MP3 rebuilds. All images have been scanned with CDMage to verify there are no sector errors (certain images would not allow this - other tools and ripper taken into account for verification). All images have been scanned with TurboRip to verify they have correct TOC information supplied by Necstasy (except two newer images because of protection, but will not affect gameplay).
