Welcome to another How To DIY guide for your BMW E39 M5. Today we will be fitting the OEM Homelink garage door opener system to the M5. This system allows control over your electric garage door, or anything else you wish to program it to. There are 2 types of transmittor that were fitted to USA vehicles. The first type is a single code unit - where the code between the TX and RX never changes - This unit can be identified by having black buttons and a RED status LED. The second type is a rolling code unit - where the code between the TX and RX changes each time it is operated - This improves security and prevents the transmittor being cloned easily. This unit can be identified by having white buttons (for the writing) and a GREEN status LED.
Note, that if your garage door system operates on an 868Mhz TX system, then the homelink kit will not work - I found this out AFTER the installation - However, I made it work in the end with a bit of hard work and electronic modification. Fitting is easy, as is programming. Here is how to program your homelink unit: 1. Put your car key in the ignition and turn the ignition to position 1 or 2 and check that the Homelink has power by pressing one of the buttons. Press and hold the two outer keys on the HomeLink receiver until the indicator lamp flashes rapidly, then release the keys. The three channel keys are now cleared - This will take approximately 20 seconds and resets the unit.
Hold the hand-held garage door transmitter toward the HomeLink receiver (no more than 2 inches away), and at the same time press the garage door transmitter key and HomeLink receiver key you wish to program. Release both keys as soon as the indicator lamp on the HomeLink receiver flashes rapidly. Press the programmed key you selected on the HomeLink receiver and the indicator lamp should illuminate solid (if it does you are done), if it blinks rapidly for 2 seconds then goes solid, continue to the next step. This step is for garage door openers with a rolling code feature.
Get a step ladder and press the learn or smart button on the garage door opener in your garage. Within 30 seconds, press the programmed key you selected on the HomeLink receiver for 2 seconds and the training is complete.
But no idea of later part. Any suggestions please? C# ftp download all files. To read a file into a memorystream is quite easy, just have a look at the following example and you should be able to convert it to suite your needs: Dim bData As Byte() Dim br As BinaryReader = New BinaryReader(System.IO.File.OpenRead(Path)) bData = br.ReadBytes(br.BaseStream.Length) Dim ms As MemoryStream = New MemoryStream(bData, 0, bData.Length) ms.Write(bData, 0, bData.Length) then just use the MemoryStream ms as you please.

You should now be able to use your HomeLink receiver to open the garage door.
